Rwanda secures deal to host Formula One’s return to Africa
Rwanda is set to host a Formula One Grand Prix from the early 2030s under a ten-year agreement announced on 13 October, Reuters reported.
The African Grand Prix will take place at a purpose-built circuit planned near Bugesera, approximately 40 kilometres south of Kigali.
The agreement would return Formula One to Africa for the first time since South Africa hosted a championship race at Kyalami in 1993.
Rwanda would become the third African country to stage a championship round, following Morocco and South Africa.
