World Bank raises sub-Saharan Africa growth forecast to 4.3%
The World Bank projects sub-Saharan Africa’s economy will grow by 4.3% in 2026, an upward revision of 0.3 percentage points from its April forecast.
Its Africa Economic Update, released on 6 October, points to stronger domestic demand, improved economic resilience and investment in digital technologies and the energy transition.
However, the bank says growth remains too slow to generate sufficient employment or substantially reduce extreme poverty.
High debt-servicing costs continue to restrict public spending, while insecurity, climate shocks and global uncertainty threaten the outlook.
