CAF raises annual funding to US$700,000 for African football associations
18 October 2026
African football associations are set to receive increased financial support after the Confederation of African Football announced annual allocations of up to US$700,000 for each of its 54 members.
The funding package, announced by CAF president Patrice Motsepe on 14 October, represents an increase of approximately 33% from the previous ceiling of US$525,000.
CAF says the additional resources will support football development, including youth and women’s programmes, administration and governance.
Annual funding for regional bodies will also increase from US$750,000 to US$900,000, while support for the African Clubs Association will rise from US$400,000 to US$500,000.
The latest allocation continues a series of increases from the US$200,000 available annually to member associations in 2021.
For Zimbabwe and other member countries, the announcement provides scope for stronger development programmes. However, it concerns funding channelled through national associations; it does not announce direct grants to individual clubs or academies.
