India announces wider price controls for 137 cancer medicines
18 October 2026
India has announced expanded price controls covering 137 cancer medicines, with changes scheduled to take effect on 9 November.
Reuters reported that the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers said prices would fall by 70%, while trade margins would be capped at 30% of the maximum retail price.
The medicines include treatments used for several cancers, including breast, prostate, colon, ovarian and cervical cancer.
The decision extends earlier efforts to make cancer treatment more affordable. The announcement concerns India’s pricing system and does not establish equivalent reductions elsewhere.
